So I start up the Z this morning, slight rough idle at first which has happened before and then usually will flatten out, but not this time, sounds like a WRX, runs like a POS. I have no choice but to go to work. While I'm at work, I'm searching through Posts to find an answer, no luck. Before leaving work, I start the car and runs the same as the morning, so I start to try to wiggle the injector connectors and cylinder 1 drops off. At this point I have no idea how many cylinders I'm actually running on, but my guess is no more than 4, and I decide to drive it home. Half way home, I felt the AMAZING kick of an extra cylinder (it's quite a substantial gain in power), but still running rough. Get home and do a Power Balance test, I test all but cylinder 6 since it's hard to pull the plug and cylinders 1 & 5 are not firing. It's too dark out now and I don't know where to go now as to whether I should pull the plenum and try to clean the connectors as a starting point. I've never pulled the plenum so it seems like a lot of work just to pull it, test/clean the injector connectors & find out the injectors were actually the culprit & now I have to put it all back together and order the injector kit. Also, when I apply pressure to one of the connectors near the PTU (the one with I think black, white, blue, yellow & a few more wires), the engine almost shuts off completely. So now I dont know if this may be the cause or part of it. I just replaced the spark plugs about 2 years ago, maybe 15k miles on them, so I highly doubt its them. Kind of weird that so many went at one time. Injector or Injector connector or something else? Is it bad to drive on 4 cylinders? If it's an injector or 2 then I've decided on the 300ยบ Kit. I just dont know if it's that or $25 in a set of connectors. Just mainly looking for a kind point in the right direction. Thanks a bunch!
